Formed in 2003 by founder of post-hardcore group Mahumodo (1997-2003) Mehdi Safa and Mahumodo drummer Tom Harriman - based in California and United Kingdom, *shels released their debut 'Wingsfortheirsmiles' EP in 2003 on their own imprint (*)Shelsmusic. Their debut album 'Sea Of The Dying Dhow' was released on June 18, 2007 also through (*)Shelsmusic. Second album Plains Of The Purple Buffalo was released on July 11 2011 on (*)Shelsmusic. Showcasing progressive, cinematic soundscapes and raw brutality, *shels' live lineup has featured members of Eden Maine, Mahumodo, and Fireapple Red. *shels was formed in 2003 following the split of Mehdi Safa's former band Mahumodo.
