Maxim Sergeevich Fisenko (b. December 14, 1998) is a Russian musician. He performs under the pseudonym Кишлак, also spelled as “Kishlak”. Кишлак was born in Severomorsk, in Russia’s Murmansk region. His childhood was fraught with psychological trauma and serious trials; his grandfather and father suffered from alcoholism, and his father beat his mother. Кишлак recorded his first musical compositions at the age of 14 on a voice recorder. The first serious project is “The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Sleep Phase” (“APFS”). He posted audio recordings on his community page on VKontakte; subsequently, a fraudster re-uploaded the songs to serious music platforms in his own name and appropriated the authorship in order to generate income. Later, Кишлак managed to return all rights to the project. This was followed by the projects “Sunny Muslim”, “Mermaid Tract”, “Bisexual from the Village” and others. After some time, Кишлак realized that his music did not convey the message that listeners were supposed to understand: “People thought doing drugs was really cool and fun. They began to pick up my movement, and the message in my songs was completely different. I wanted to convey to people that they don’t have to live like me. It was a satire of myself, I made fun of myself in my songs and wanted to convey this to people, but not everyone understood it. Because of this, I wanted to put the project on hold. The Hitchhiker's Sleep Phase project lasted until 2020 and was closed. Now he releases music under the pseudonym Кишлак. At the moment, all tracks of the APFS project have been removed from all sites in order to avoid problems with law enforcement agencies, due to the attention paid to his work by Ekaterina Mizulina and the Safe Internet League.
