‎אשמדאי (English: Ashmedai) is a Soundcloud-only Ambient project by American singer-songwriter Hayden Silas Anhedönia (aka Ethel Cain). The name is taken from Ashmedai, also known as Asmodeus, who is biblically considered the king of all demons, and is often associated with the sin of lust. Hayden has this name tattooed to her forehead, alongside Gabriel (גַבְרִיאֵל), in Hebrew. For this project, she has released the singles housofpsychoticwomn in 2021 (which has been released on her 2025 EP, Perverts,) and the lesser known “matriach1,” in 2022 (now taken down,) as well as a string of songs simply titled 000, 001, 002, and so on. She has continued to release these numbered songs sporadically, some being horror-infused dark ambient, and others being atmospheric space ambient. Some contain samples from video games or movies, but others are entirely composed herself. One of them is 31 minutes long. She has compiled these songs into a mixtape titled “000000000”. It is unknown how many songs she will create, but multiple of the songs created via this alias were later remixed and made into the songs on Perverts. Read more on Last.fm.
