MONDO ROCCIA



ザ・クロマニヨンズ (The Cro-Magnons) is a Japanese punk rock band formed by former members of THE BLUE HEARTS and ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓. After the latter’s disbandment, guitarist 真島昌利 (Mashima Masatoshi) proposed the idea of creating a new band to vocalist 甲本ヒロト (Kōmoto Hiroto). Having performed and recorded music together since the early eighties, the two of them recruited bassist 小林勝 (Kobayashi Masaru) and drummer 桐田勝治 (Kirita Katsuji), and started activities as The Cro-Magnons in July 2006. Ever since formation, the band’s musical style has been a simple, straight-forward variant of punk rock, often featuring whimsical lyrics written by either Kōmoto or Mashima. To emphasize their uncomplicated sound (and perhaps to emulate recordings from the 1960s), several of their more recent works have been released in the single-channel mono sound format. Examples of this include the MONDO ROCCIA album from 2009 and the オートバイと皮ジャンパーとカレー (Ōtobai to Kawa Jumper to Curry) single which went on sale in September, 2010.
