Devloped by Internet Co, MEGPOID (メグッポイド)/Gumi is a Vocaloid character released on June 26, 2009. Her voice was provided by Nakajima Megumi, the seiyuu for Ranka Lee in Macross Frontier. The character Gumi is designed by manga artist Yuuki Masami. Internet Co is a Vocaloid voice package producer whose first release is the now-iconic GACKPOID (nicknamed Gakupo), developed with the voice of Japanese pop star and former MALICE MIZER front man GACKT. Their latest release is the Vocaloid Lily, sampled from Yuri Masuda from the band m.o.v.e. Although the other Vocaloids are generally tagged with their character names, the mascot Gumi is tagged as MEGPOID, the name of her software package, to avoid confusion with the artist Megumi Hinata, also known as gumi/グミ.
