メレ (Mele) is a two-piece indie rock group based in Tokyo, Japan. The band was formed on April 28, 2018. The duo consists of Haruka Shiraishi (bass, chorus, songwriting, composition) and Iori Nakamura (songwriting, guitar, composition). Shiraishi and Nakamura first met at Hino High School, the same school attended by the renowned musician Kiyoshiro Imawano. While Shiraishi was already a member of the band Regal Lily, she expressed her desire to leave for undisclosed reasons. Nakamura, who was struggling with her post-graduation plans, received an invitation from Shiraishi to meet at a McDonald's for an important talk. During this conversation, Shiraishi revealed her thoughts of quitting Regal Lily and proposed the idea of forming a band together. Nakamura, with a positive intuition, readily accepted the proposition, resulting in the formation of Mele. Since then, they have actively performed live shows primarily in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. Within a year of their formation, Mele achieved success by performing at major circuit events in Tokyo and the largest live circuit event in Osaka, MINAMI WHEEL 2019. Iori Nakamura, born on July 14, 1999, is responsible for songwriting, guitar, and composition in Mele. She developed a passion for music after listening to the band UNICORN with her father in the car. Influenced by this experience, she began creating her own songs. Nakamura's lyrics, meticulously crafted in Japanese, exhibit moments of sharpness and humor. Haruka Shiraishi, born on April 28, 1998, handles the bass, chorus, as well as songwriting and composition in Mele. Shiraishi embarked on her musical endeavors during elementary school. Her style is influenced by the music of Huwie Ishizaki and the rhythms of electro-pop band Passion Pit. Mele is known for their words that even kindergartners can understand but impress university students and their dream pop sound. The band's melodic sense, choice of words, and, most importantly, the atmospheric chemistry between the two members, all contribute to their captivating appeal. Starting from July 2020, Mere has been releasing a series of four works titled Four Seasons, encompassing the songs Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring, through various streaming and music download platforms. In May 2021, the full album Four Seasons was released, showcasing the band's artistic vision and musical progression. Read more on Last.fm.
