人格ラヂオ (Jinkaku Radio) is a self-produced, indie visual-kei band from Shizuoka prefecture, Japan. As of December 1st 2009, they are signed to the independent label Human Dock Inc. Their band name translates directly to Personality Radio, and reflects their desire to portray the essence of the human condition through their music. 〓 Members 〓 They are essentially a two-piece consisting of: ♦ 悠希 (Yuuki) - Vocals, Guitar, Lyrics, Composition ♦ 那オキ (Naoki) - Bass Guitar, Live Backing Vocals, Production, Arrangement The other leg of the band are the 半ラヂオ (Han-Radio, literally Half-Radio), the support members who play with 人格ラヂオ for their live shows. From recent live shows (such as the RAI RADIO THEATER on December 6th, 2009), it seems that 半ラヂオ functions on a rotating basis - whoever is available for the 人格ラヂオ live show date plays. 半ラヂオ members who have recently performed/are due to perform in upcoming shows are: ♦ ジョン (John) - Live Guitar ♦ 雷 (Rai) - Live Guitar ♦ 神 (Shin) - Live Drums Ex-半ラヂオ Members: ♦ 舞 (Mai) - Live Drums ♦ 麻耶 (Maya) - Live Guitar. Also used to be an official member of 人格ラヂオ, but became part of 半ラヂオ during their early days. 〓 Music 〓 Musically, 人格ラヂオ tend to lean towards melancholic vocal melodies with powerful guitar riffs and complicated bass lines that harmonise with the vocal melody. 那オキ (Naoki) is known for using a 5-stringed bass guitar in live performances. He also plays a fretless 4-stringed bass guitar. 悠希 (Yuuki) and 那オキ (Naoki) have cited Radiohead and The Beatles respectively as musical influences in interviews, and they have even covered some Radiohead songs, such as Street Spirit and Fake Plastic Trees live. Lyrically, 悠希 (Yuuki) has cited influences from his favourite author, Murakami Haruki (村上春樹), and this can be seen in songs such as ネジマキドリ (Nejimakidori), which is a homage to Murakami's ねじまき鳥クロニクル (Nejimakidori Kuronikuru, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles). During live performances and in public appearances such as interviews, 人格ラヂオ don their trademark costumes, which consist of a white shirt, black suit, a thin black tie, black platform boots, and an arm-band emblazoned with the words 人格ラヂオ. Members also wear black eye make-up. 那オキ (Naoki)'s arm-band is red, while 悠希 (Yuuki) and the rest of the band wear white arm-bands. In an interview they explained that this is because 那オキ (Naoki), the band's leader, is an 赤レンジャー (Aka renja, literally Red Ranger, a reference to how leader figures in Japanese action cartoons tend to wear red). Apart from his red arm-band, 那オキ (Naoki)'s trademark is his fake eyelashes and black lipstick. 〓 Side-Projects/Past Projects 〓 悠希 (Yuuki) is also involved in カス, a collaboration with 慎一郎 (Shinichiro) of ジュリィー (Jully), as well as MINECoooooRN (pronounced me-nay-corn), a possibly one-off live ユニコーン cover band that was founded in order to celebrate the birthday of ミネムラ (Minemura), lead guitarist of 花少年バディーズ (Hana Shounen Baddies).
