Naoki Satō (born May 2, 1970) is a Japanese composer and producer from Chiba Prefecture, who has provided music for movies, dramas, anime series, and musicals. He graduated from Tokyo College of Music in 1993. Satō has scored several popular anime scores, including とつぜん!猫の国 バニパルウィット (Catnapped! The Movie, 1995), X TV + OVA (2001), 交響詩篇エウレカセブン (Eureka Seven, 2005), ふたりはプリキュア (Pretty Cure, 2004), ヒロイック・エイジ (Heroic Age, 2007) and ストレンヂア -無皇刃譚- (Sword of the Stranger, 2007). He is also known for his testosterone driven action scores for motion pictures like 海猿 (Umizaru, 2004), ローレライ (Lorelei, 2005) and LIMIT OF LOVE -海猿- (2006). ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日 (ALWAYS Sanchōme no Yūhi, 2005) won Japan Academy Prize’s Outstanding Achievement in Music award in 2006. Its sequel ALWAYS 続・三丁目の夕日 (ALWAYS Zoku · Sanchōme no Yūhi, 2007) was nominated for the same honour in 2008. Satō’s other film contributions include シムソンズ (Simsons, 2005) and 手紙 (Tegami, 2006), among many others. Satō also provided music for several TV dramas, like GOOD LUCK!! (2003), WATER BOYS (2003) + WATER BOYS 2 (2004), FIRE BOYS ~め組の大吾~ (FIRE BOYS ~Megumi no Daigo~, 2003), オレンジデイズ (Orange Days, 2004), 海猿 TV (Umizaru TV, 2005), 冗談じゃない! (Jōdan ja nai!, 2007), and コード・ブルー -ドクターヘリ緊急救命- (Code Blue -Doctor Heli Kinkyū Kyūmei-, 2008).
