安良城紅 (Beni Arashiro), born March 30th, 1986, is an artist from the 8th Zen-Nihon Kokumin-teki Bishojo Contest (National Beauty Contest). Born to an American Father and Japanese Mother, Beni can speak fluently in both English and Japanese. Her parents were music-lovers, and Beni took dance and piano lessons from a young age. The skills she acquired brought her into sudden prominence in the music industry in June 2004 with her debut single Harmony, also known as the theme song for TV Asahi's drama series [Rei-kan Bus Guide Jikenbo]. Within the first year of her debut, Beni was posing for the covers of various fashion magazines, and became the model for KOSÉ, one of the nation's leading cosmetics firms. Beni showed off her dance skills and R&B taste with her second single, Infinite.... Her third single, Here Alone, quickly followed and was used as the outro for the TV ASAHI 45th Anniversary Special Drama, Kiyoharu Matsumoto’s [Kurokawa no Techo]. 2005 was a good year for Beni. Her long-awaited debut album Beni was released in February, receiving acclaim for the variation in vocals ranging from R&B to drum n' bass and also ballads. In June, Beni released “Hikari no Kazu Dake Glamorous which was played during a commercial she appeared in promoting KOSÉ's new [VISÉE] line of makeup. In the same month, she sang both the Japanese and American national anthems for the 43,000 people attending the halftime show of [NFL TOKYO 2005] at TOKYO DOME. Beni also actively participated in avex’s Summer Festival, [a-nation]. In December she released a new single, Cherish, which served as the theme song for the Japanese television show Music Fighter. The accompanying B-side was the third outro theme to the popular anime series Eyeshield 21. During 2005, Beni also covered Christina Milian for the theme song of Disney’s popular animated series, [Kim Possible]. The music video will be promoted not only in the US, but also in 68 counties and 100 million families worldwide. At the 19th Japan Gold Disc Award Ceremony, Beni received the “Best New Artist of the Year” award. Nearly two years since her debut, this 19-year-old Sophia University student has already left an impact on the music industry and continues to work towards international recognition as a first-class artist and entertainer.
