REVOLUTIONS
Heisei Ishin (平成維新) was a Japanese visual kei band under the label UNDER CODE PRODUCTION, active from June 2008 to February 2010. They were part of the kirakira kei subgenre. The band consisted of two former members of Anjyu' (guitarist YUKKIE and bassist Yoshi-善-), two former members of VIZET-ヴィゼ (guitarist JILL and drummer RAI-ライ-), and vocalist Taku-拓- from Lobelia (ロベリア). The band made its live debut on August 1, 2008, and held its first sponsored event later that month. In September, they released their first two singles, Phantom and Shelter, followed by a series of performances and events. They gained attention for their energetic performances and distinct fusion of visual kei aesthetics with pop-electronic sounds. Their first mini-album, MODS, was released in January 2009, followed by their single Explosion in April. Over the next two years, Heisei Ishin continued to release new music, including their maxi-single 縷々-Ruru- and the mini-albums パブリックセンチメント and 美しき鼓動. In 2010, the band announced they would leave UNDER CODE PRODUCTION after their graduation event ENDLESS VOYAGE on September 28 at Osaka BIG CAT. Shortly after, they released a best-of album, REVOLUTIONS, to commemorate their time with the label. However, in November 2010, it was revealed that the band would disband following their performance at UNDER CODE's New Year's countdown event. Tragedy struck before the disbandment, as vocalist Taku passed away on December 10, 2010. The cause of his death was never publicly disclosed, and a flower offering ceremony was held in February 2011 to honor his memory. The band went ahead with their final performance at the New Year's event in Tokyo, marking the end of their journey. In 2012, to commemorate the second anniversary of Taku's death, the remaining members held a memorial concert. Guests included N@H (formed by Heisei Ishin members YUKKIE and Rai), debuting band Oneness (Rai's brother Syuma's band), Carat (カラット), FUTURISM・BOYZ, Nega, and Enya Tomoyuki (bassist for 12012), who performed with a support band. During the memorial, they performed their own songs and covers of Heisei Ishin songs. Heisei Ishin was the main act for the event, and for vocals, they mostly performed with Taku's recorded voice, but later on, his brother Kinari was there to perform vocals. According to the members, Kinari's vocals and physical movements were similar to his brother's. Following the disbandment, YUKKIE and RAI joined the band GIGAMOUS (ギガマウス), while JILL retired from the music scene, and Yoshi became a host at a lounge. Read more on Last.fm.
