Aragaki Yui (新垣結衣, June 11 1988) is a Japanese model, actress, singer, seiyu and occasional radio show host born in Okinawa, Japan. She gained a large fanbase in and out of Japan because of her fashion sense and logical personality. Her beauty, particularly her smile, is well-regarded in her home country. She is also considered as one of Japan's local celebrities who possess a beautiful face. Yui's sister sent in Yui's profile to the publishers and she auditioned, winning its Grand Prix award. By 2001, her fellow model friend, Ayako Enamoto nicknamed her Gakky. Since then, she has been popularly known for this nickname. To date, Yui has won five Newcomer awards. Her fifth Newcomer recognition was in honor of her character in the 3.6 billion-grossing movie, Koizora (Sky of Love). She debuted as a singer after releasing her debut album Sora on December 5, 2007. She had her first live concert taken place at Nippon Budoukan on December 22 2007. The album features two songs, Memories and heavenly days, which she sang as theme songs for the movie Koizora (Sky of Love).
