Sheng Zhongguo 盛中国 (Chongqing, Sichuan Province, 1941 - 2018) was a Chinese violinist He began his violin training at the age of five with his father. Two years later he made his first stage appearance. Six years later, he was enrolled by the Central Conservatory of Music and subsequently studied at the TchaikovskyConservatory of Music in Moscow, Russia with Leonid Kogan, a master violinist. He successfully held China's first-ever Concerto Concert in 1963, where he played three concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven with the accompaniment of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In 1964, he returned to China and became a soloist at the Central Philharmonic Orchestra. From then on, he often got invitations to play with world-renowned conductors and orchestras and paid visits to Europe, Asia, America, Oceania, Chinese Hong Kong and Macao. He is also a frequent prizewinner. He won the Award of Merit at Concours International Tchaikovsky in 1962, the first prize at the competition between musical groups directly under China's Ministry of Culture in 1981 as well as Golden Disc Awards by China Record Corporation.
