缺省 (Quēshěng, Default) formed at the north of Beijing in 2016, and is now seen as one of the most promising Chinese bands to emerge in the shoegaze subgenre. The band consists of 屹然 /Eric (guitar), 艾迪娜/Edina (keyboard, vocals), 席晓强/Looper (drums), and 小E /Little E on bass. Edina joined in 2018 after meeting Eric while recording her own album, replacing a previous keyboardist. None of the members play music full time. The band released their first EP, California Nebula, in the spring of 2017, and were signed to Shanghai-based SJ-Records shortly after. The EP was nominated for “Best Indie-Pop Album” at Douban Music’s Abby Road Awards. Default have opened for bands like Slowdive and The Bilinda Butchers, and will commence a 10-city China tour in promotion of their full-length debut album, Life in a Vacuum. Read more on Last.fm.
