无是无非



黑豹, Black Panther in English, was formed in 1987 and is considered to be one of the first rock bands in mainland China. They are also commonly known by the Pinyin romanization of their Chinese name, Hei Bao. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1991, features songs such as Don't Break My Heart and 无地自容, which are both classics of Chinese rock. After the album was released, Dou Wei, the lead singer, left the band and the band never recovered after this in terms of fame. In 1993, 光芒之神, or Spirit of Light was released with Luan Shu, the keyboardist, on vocals. Hei Bao signed with JVC Records. In 1996, 无是无非, or No Right No Wrong was released with Qin Yong on vocals. Qin Yong would remain until 2005 when he had to retire in order to take care of his son, who had behavioural problems. In 1998, 不能让我的烦恼没机会表白, or Cannot Let My Angst Go Unexpressed was released. Hei Bao is no longer with JVC. In 2004, 黑豹V, or Black Panther V was released. This would be Hei Bao's last album for 9 years. After Qin Yong left the band, he was replaced by Zhang Kepeng on lead vocals. He did not record any albums with Hei Bao. In 2013, 我们是谁, or Who We Are was released with Zhang Qi on vocals. In 2017, 本色, or True Color was released. Only 本色, 我们是谁, and 黑豹 (the debut album) can be heard on Western music platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. The rest can only be heard on Chinese music platforms or on YouTube (albeit with low quality). After many changes in band members, 黑豹 is still active today.
