黒百合姉妹 (Kuroyuri Shimai) is a neoclassical darkwave duo from Osaka, Japan, formed in May 1986 by JURI and LISA. Their ethereal style is heavily influenced by western classical music, Medieval European history, and gothic imaginary. They also mention the art of Holly Warburton and Leonora Carrington as a source of inspiration. Kuroyuri Shimai are also known as The Black Lily Sisters or Les soeurs des lys noirs as kuro means black, yuri means lily and shimai means sisters. One of their albums, All Things Are Quite Silent, was released under the monicker JURI et LISA. The early works of the duo were released on SSE Communications (a now defunct Japanese label ran by Kitamura Masashi), but in 1999 they founded their independent label named Sibylla. Some of their songs are featured in Angel Sanctuary's soundtracks and drama CDs. While their primary work is to record their music, they also perform live concerts once or twice a year in Tokyo, together with guest musicians. Arima Sumihisa has been a regular guest with them.
