Vol. 1

보천보전자악단 (English: Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble) is an orchestral group of popular music from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (Korea) formed in June, 1985. It is famous for its performances of revolutionary and folk songs from Korea, as well as for covering popular foreign songs. The group takes it's name from the Battle of Poch’ŏnbo on July 4, 1937, when a guerrilla unit under the leadership of Kim Il Sung attacked the Japanese Imperialists occupation force. In 1991, the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble toured Japan with performances being held in Tokyo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Kitakyushu, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Himeji. The song 'Nice to meet you' was created for the tour. Although they disbanded in 2008, the band has made sporadical appearances with a reduced number of members since then. The band also continued to release albums until 2012 with the last 182nd album. In 2015 the band reunited to participate in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Worker's Party.
