Stephanie Young Hwang (born on August 1, 1989 in San Francisco, California), better known by the stage names Tiffany (Hangul: 티파니) and Tiffany Young, is an American singer and actress. She is a member of the South Korean girl group 소녀시대 and its sub-unit 소녀시대-태티서, both formed by SM Entertainment. Tiffany was invited to audition at the SM Entertainment Starlight Casting System, where she auditioned with Christina Aguilera's song The Voice Within, and joined the company in October of 2004 in Los Angeles at the age of 15. She made her official debut as a member of Girls' Generation on August 5, 2007. In 2012, Tiffany with her fellow members Taeyeon (태연) and Seohyun (서현) formed a sub-unit called Girls' Generation-TTS, releasing their first mini-album titled Twinkle during the same year. In 2014, they released their second mini-album titled Holler. For this release, Tiffany took an active role and served as the visual director to the overall album image and the concept of the title track's music video. The sub-unit has a different musical direction and style concept from Girls' Generation, placing their focus on each member's vocal ability. On May 4, 2016, Tiffany was officially announced to be debuting as a solo singer with I Just Wanna Dance. The album became available for pre-order on the iTunes Store on May 5. It was reported on May 6 that Tiffany composed the track What Do I Do and wrote the lyrics for the song's English version, which is only available on the iTunes Store, Spotify and Apple Music, while her fellow Girls' Generation member Sooyoung wrote the lyrics for its Korean version. On May 11, 2016, the album and the title track's music video were released. A few weeks later, on May 23, she released her first digital single I Just Wanna Dance (Kago Pengchi Remix). The song is a remix of the English version of her debut album's title track. On June 10, 2016, Tiffany released the track Heartbreak Hotel (feat. Simon Dominic) for SM Entertainment's SM Station as its eighteenth release. In August 2017, she participated in her idol group Girls' Generation's comeback Holiday Night before officially leaving SM Entertainment on October 9, 2017.
