Masked and unfailingly vicious, 2smokeyy represents the most menacing sounds in hip-hop. His exact origins are shrouded in mystery, but what is known is that he emerged as a member of Active Gxng, a notorious Camden crew that took their rumoured exploits from the streets to the booth in 2020. As part of the group, he’s flaunted blistering flows and bullet-riddled lyrics on songs like “Lean and Shoot” and “Malis”, while meshing the carnage with expansive pop culture references for his own tunes (“Corn”). Sly, playful and relentless, Smokeyy is an engaging artist who raps without a filter. Due to their violent content, 2smokeyy and Active Gxng have seen their songs taken down from streaming services, only to be reuploaded with significant censoring. Despite this, 2smokeyy used his decisive baritone, gritty lyrics and mocking humour to carve out a space in the UK drill movement, a place where he’s grown more comfortable with each release.
