If You Don't Buy This Cd The Terrorists Win
There are at least two artists/bands going by the name of A.O.K. The first is an hardcore punk band from Germany, taking elements from punk, grindcore and metal to form a sound they call Nothingcore. The band has been around since the 80's and are still going on, having released 11 full-lengths and a few live albums and demos. Omar “A.O.K.” Mouallem is also an Edmonton emcee who got his start in the rural town of High Prairie, Alberta, and sharpened his skills in the Vancouver hip-hop scene. For over a decade, A.O.K. has developed a hip hop style infused with light and heavy, satirical and serious, smooth and raw elements. The Edmonton-based concept artist works around his interests in politics, women, love, religion, science, and hip hop itself. His debut album If You Don’t Buy This CD the Terrorists Win dropped in June 2008. An untitled sophomore album is slated for late 2010. Aside from music, Omar works as a writer and award-winning journalist. Aside from authoring a book titled Amazing Cats, he has worked for Exclaim!, Vue Weekly, 24 Hours and contributed a children's story (Q Without U) to the third issue of IBS. He’s currently the associate editor of Avenue magazine in Edmonton. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
