Akwid is a Mexican-American Hip Hop group, combining hip hop-style vocals with regional Mexican music. An earlier incarnation of the group was known as Juvenile Style. Rappers Sergio Wikid Gómez and Francisco AK Gómez, who make up Akwid, are two brothers originally from Jiquilpan, Michoacán, who live in Los Angeles, California. Akwid is very similar to Kinto Sol, El Chivo, Dyablo, Crooked Stilo, Jae-P, David Rolas, Flakiss, La Sinfonia, Gramatiko, DJ Payback Garcia, Locura Terminal, Kartel De Las Calles,(KDC), Don Cheto, Control Machete, Cartel De Santa, Dharius, C-Kan Gera MX, Santa Fe Klan Aleman, Mc Davo, Toser One, Tiro Loko, Mike Díaz, Adán Cruz, Santa Estilo, Zimple, Tren Lokote, Neto Peña, Lefty SM, Remik Gonzalez, La Santa Grifa, El Pinche Mara, Maniako, Mr. Yosie Lokote, DeCalifornia, South Park Mexican (SPM), Kid Frost, Lighter Shade Of Brown, Lil Rob, MC Magic, NB Ridaz, Mr. Criminal, King Lil G, Mr. Capone-E, Lil Cuete, Mr. Sancho, Lil Menace, Mr. Lil One, Califa Thugs, Knightowl,Mr. Shadow, Conejo, Brownside, DJ Sancho,Chingo Bling and many more. They Influenced by many West Coast Hip-Hop, Gangster Rap and G-Funk artists from the 1980s and 90s like 2pac, Eazy-E,N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and many more and as well East Coast Hip-Hop/Rap artist like Biggie Smalls, Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Eric B. & Rakim, EMPD, Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo and many more and regional Mexican Music artists like Banda Machos, Banda El Recodo, Chalino Sanchez, Los Cadetes De Linares, Carlos Y Jose, Los Tigres Del Norte, Vicente Fernández, Antonio Aguilar and many more. They associated with Gangs in Los Angeles Mostly Black and Hispanic Like Bloods, Crips, Sureño MS13 and more and as well white and Asian as well back in the 1990s before they’re famous. Their first album, Proyecto Akwid, won two Billboard Prizes and a Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.
