Basskraft is not Kraftwerk, but it could be. These folks did their homewerk. Their sole release isA Bass Tribute to Kraftwerk. They know their Computer Love from their Computer World. A Bass Tribute to Kraftwerk is a CD of Kraftwerk covers, released in 1998, faithfully done, though a bit slower and with a bit more backbeat to its backbone. The bass is beautiful. It doesn't pulse hard--it has a nice round bottom that is part of the music instead of being painfully up front. Perhaps this might be a disappointment for some, but it wears nicely on the ears. So why buy Basskraft when you can hear the originals? Maybe to get all those great songs on one CD: Autobahn, Trans-Europe Express, The Robots, and even the rare Tour de France. --Bob Boilen Read more on Last.fm.
