Blisterene is a power pop group from Vancouver, Canada, formed in 1995. The group consisted of Malcolm Tente (guitar, vocals), Mark R Henning (bass, vocals), and Tariq Khan (drums, backing vocals). In their three year span the band played continuously throughout Vancouver and Canada, with two videos, Gratitude and Broadcast Nationwide being aired in rotation on the nation's music station, Much Music. Mark had left his former band, Pure, at the end of 1994 and called Malcolm to see if he'd be interested in starting a group. The two instantly found their collaborations to be successful and quickly demoed four songs in order to find a proper drummer. Tariq auditioned and three weeks later the band performed their first show. Recording at Malcolm's Tomorrowland Studio, essentially a rehearsal space with room for equipment, the three quickly built up their repertoire and by the end of 1996 had their debut cd completed. So I Have Them consisted of ten power pop tunes that displayed the trio's influences of The Replacements, Pixies, Descendants, and The Police. Before disbanding in 1998 Blisterene recorded several more songs, some of which are now available to be heard on their posthumous album The Rest to be released on Boutique Empire.
