Divided By a Ladder
There are two artists under the name Bunkbed. More recognized one is: Nothing Ever Lasts was the debut full length from the Santa Cruz, CA, downtempo indie rock band Bunkbed. Building up to that point, Keith Krate, who basically was Bunkbed, and company have appeared on Zum Audio Vol. 2 and have also collaborated with Jen Wood on the Try for Summer, Plan for Fall compilation, as well as on Bunkbed’s own initial 7, Substance Abuse. Having been described as breakup music, Bunkbed's sincere, heartwrentching CD combines raw honesty and catchy songwriting that appeals to fans of Karate and The Red House Painters. Oft-times joined on stage by the Bunkbed family of Matt, Mike D. and Marcy, Bunkbed played shows all over the Bay Area and beyond, embarking on multiple tours over the life of the band. They had the honor of playing with friends like Mates of State, Whysall Lane, Track Star, The Contrail, Xiu Xiu and so many other great bands. Keith Krate passed away in September of 2002, leaving behind his music for us to enjoy as well as friends and extended family who continue to miss him. His last full length album has been produced in a limited run by Turn Records and Let's Go Records. In late 2004, Turn Records took the last proper Bunkbed song, Fallen Angel II and released it on a special split 7 with Xiu Xiu's version of Fake Soul. Additionally, Turn Records later released a posthumous collection of unreleased and rerecorded Bunkbed material, titled Swimming Back to Shore Without Me. [Above was adapted from Turn Records' Official Biography The lesser known BunkBed is composed of front man Zach Lommen, and a changing lineup formed of the following members: Derek Martinez, Mason Christison,Tyler Pierce, Jeremiah Godak, and Kevin Lemberger. The members met at Tahoma High School, Maple Valley, Washington the home of the Bears, and describe themselves as 2/3 joke and 1/3 guitar chords. Their music resembles that of the Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, My Morning Jacket, and the Goo Goo Dolls. They played venues such as the Tahoma Senior High School Gymnasium, Java!Java! and El Corazon in Seattle, WA. Their first EP, self titled, came out on October 3rd, 2006.
