Minecraft - Volume Alpha

ambient electronic chill idm folk

The eleventh song on Minecraft - Volume Alpha. C418 details the name is a play on words of electronic band Mouse On Mars - "[Mouse On Mars] is a definite inspiration for me, and this album directly. It’s a highly experimental German musician duo that has been super active in the late 90’s and early 2000’s and I obsessed over their work. The song started as a piano solo, but as game development went on, I added a kind of, uh, addendum to it. A little cheeky piece that kind of says, Minecraft is also quite silly." C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld. Born May 9, 1989 in Germany) is the artist behind the albums Life Changing Moments Seem Minor in Pictures, Circle & one. According to his website, Rosenfeld's dream is to work for a company that doesn't outsource music and sound. Rosenfeld cites his brother as a major unnoticed influence in his musical career. Rosenfeld's brother initially introduced him to Ableton, his first music production software, which he used to create mash-ups of two songs. Rosenfeld continued to produce music as a productive hobby, which eventually led to his involvement in the indie game community. Spending time in TIGSource's IRC channel, Rosenfeld started to learn the infinitely complicated art of game design. Through the same channel, he met Markus Notch Persson, who was just beginning his work on the then indie sandbox game, Minecraft. Rosenfeld's work for Minecraft - in which he was responsible for the music and sound effects in-game - greatly popularised his other work due to the attention Minecraft - Volume Alpha and Minecraft - Volume Beta received.
