“Tek It” sees Cafuné and Sedona Schat come together to make an otherworldly track. Noah Yoo stated in a TikTok video that the song was titled “Tek It” because he had been watching a Super Smash Bros livestream when he discovered the guitar tune for the song. Yoo recorded the tune and went to name the session, but the word “tek” was the only word in his mind. He decided to just name the file “tek it,” and it was never changed. Read more on Last.fm.

“Cafuné” is a Brazilian-Portuguese word that translates to “the act of running your fingers through a loved one’s hair.” When Sedona and Noah Yoo came upon the word while looking for a name for their college project in Brooklyn, they never anticipated that their 2015 EP Love Songs for Other People would connect with a Brazilian fanbase a continent away. Those listeners’ continued passion was the spark to continue on.
