Casamatta was formed in Moscow in 2016, when the duo of guitarists Ramazan Kashipov and Igor Plyska was brought to its full strength with the drummer Kirill Kiryanov, bass-guitarist Sergey Sergeyev and vocalist Ivan Lavrentyev. Music of Casamatta may be defined as new American wave of progressive metal (Mastodon, Baroness, Red Fang) though some listeners point to classic thrash metal and Swedish MDM influences. In 2017 and 2018 Casamatta played a bunch of gigs in Moscow and acquired a small but loyal fanbase. In 2019 a debute EP «Creatures» was released and writing for the first LP began.
