Sixties Archives, Vol. 8: Acid Trip & Heavy Sound for Psychic Minds
There are at least three bands sharing the name Corporation: 1. Corporation is a self described ska-core band from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The band consists of David Corporation (Guitar/Vox) originally of the band Low Frequency out of Burlington, !an !ncorporated (Bass/Vox) from the band The Shit Kickers out of Brampton, and Demented Derek (Drummer) also from The Shit Kickers. The band's music features brand spanking new ska-core tunes, but also remnants of music from both previous bands. The band played their first show four days later after forming with only 1 jam of practice at Planet Kensington. In December 2006, the band released their first, completely D.I.Y. CD: A New Pope. Containing 9 tracks, and crowd favourites such as Channel 39, My Choice and Invasion Of The Walmartians, it showed the raw energy and potential that Corporation could wield. In July 2007, Corporation released a split CD with local friends in Beyond Decay. Showcasing more of their talent and song-writing skills, the split CD is even more blistering and powerful, containing live favourites such as Koka Kola and She. Currently, Corporation is releasing their new full-length album, titled The Corporation Strikes Back. Showcasing all new songs such as Charon Doesn't Have Change For Million Dollar Bills, Guantanamo Bay, and Dead At The Age Of 18, as well as cameos from friends The Johnstones, it is evident that they have upped the ante, reaching new levels of energy and creativity, all while maintaining to keep D.I.Y. productions. Since they began, Corporation have played shows in numberous towns, with acts like: The Toasters, The Flatliners, The Johnstones, Brown Brigade, The Creepshow, Keepin'6, Static Thought, The 3Tards, The Expos, The Mahones, Action, The Briggs, Ceremonial Snips, The Viletones, Hostage Life, C'Mon, The Cheap Suits, The Real Deal, One Night Band, among others. Corporation blends a complex rhapsody of ska, punk, fast metal, dub, and hard reggae to form a perfect mix of music sure to get you out of your seat/couch/bed/house and start skanking like you've never skanked before. Maybe even mosh. Hell, you can mix the two to form mosking. It's a new theory. It's a new world. Welcome to the world of Corporation. 2. Corporation (UK/Australian electronic) (1991 to present) comprising Adam Britton & Iain Lowe released three albums in 1991 (Dark Density), 1992 (Subculture) and 1994 (Breed) respectively. The band became inactive for several years, but continues today as a solo act by Adam Britton. Recently Breed was re-released as a digital FLAC download, and a handful of new tracks (Aliens in Our Midst, Remaining Humanity, Approaching Draconis) have appeared on compilation albums. The track Aliens in Our Midst was used in a number of Dance Dance Revolution-style arcade games, most notably Pump It Up: Pro. Adam is working on a new album Alien Earth to be released digitally. Corporation's music is a mix of dark electro, melodic ambient and possibly even late Berlin School in places. 3. CORPORATION (USA, mashup / bootleg / bastard pop) (2002 - present) A bootleg / mashup artist from the Southern United States. Read more on Last.fm.
