He began playing instruments at age eight, mastering trumpet, guitar, keyboard, drums, bass, mellophone, and French horn. In high school, he played in the marching and jazz bands. In 2016, at age 18, he self-produced his first mixtape, Wannabewithu, after teaching himself Ableton Live. His second mixtape, Songs4u (2017), helped him gain traction, leading to sold-out shows. That same year, he released Lo Que Siento, which now has over 294 million streams on Spotify. Following its success, he dropped out of Santa Monica College to pursue music full-time. Cuco collaborated with Clairo on Drown (2018), Polyphia on So Strange, and performed at Coachella alongside Kenny G, as well as at Lollapalooza. In 2019, he worked with MC Magic and Lil Rob on Search before signing with Interscope Records. He released Hydrocodone, followed by his debut studio album, Para Mi, in July 2019. The album, influenced by personal experiences like a tour bus accident, debuted at #94 on the US charts. In 2022, Cuco released Fantasy Gateway, featuring collaborations with Kacey Musgraves, Adriel Favela, Bratty, and DannyLux. The album, crafted in Mexico City, explores themes of self-discovery and transformation. In 2023, he collaborated with The Marías on Si Me Voy.
