Mistaken By Design



There are at least two artists that use Cupola. The first is a death metal band formed in 2005, the second is a folk band who released their first album in 2011. 1) Cupola is established in September 2005, as a result of a hard drinking night, along with not even lighter drunk vows for a common future musical actions. When the day of reckoning has come, i.e. for accomplishing the promised things, about 8 guys respond the call, as eventually the very original staff is clarified: Misho (guitars, vocals), Pazzo (guitars, vocals), Geleto (drums, vocals), and Asparuh (bass) - who subsequently passed the bass to Ficho, as both they took part in only few repetitions. Something like October Simo was known to be game to take this hard mission and free up Ficho from the weight of the bass. In the beginning of December in the band was involved the old war horse Razvigor (keyboards), who subsequently is ejected (and wasn't even informed of) due to total inadequatecy and unreliability and full lack of desire for team work, After the New Year a serious meeting gathers the boys and they take the decision for replacing the keyboardist, and soon after the meeting Simo brings along Rumen. So this is the present staff of the band, which can be considered as fairly stable. After the first gig (25.06.2006 in Plovdiv), the band decides to raise from a drinking rabble to a complete band due to the good fans' reaction about their own music. The band takes part in several concerts all over Bulgaria along with eminent bands like Distorment, Eufobia, Atephobia, Agonic Faint, Symbolic, etc. In the mid-May, little after the remarkable gig at the United Underground Fest II, along with the Serbian machines Sacramental Blood, the band starts recording their first album. Exactly at the fest concerned, Cupola gets to know with Niki Velev - their future sound engineer. Regular recording sessions are going in his studio in Blagoevgrad. After unremitting three-month work the rough material is ready, followed by mastering of the production - it is done by the guitarist of the well-known Awake (Sofia), namely Pesho. The band remains extremely pleased with the work of both them and by the middle of September everything on the recordings and processing of the album is ready. The album comes out on October 10th issued by Distributor of Pain, entitled Mistaken By Design. Meanwhile, near the beginning of Septemberthe band releases a free downloadable single to the album - already well known to all fans War which is very welcomed and drives the band's fans in suspense. The album is presented in several radio stations, lots of forum boards and web sites, and is welcomed amazingly well. It is also promoted live in Varna on October 14th (Area 51 club) and in Sofia on October 19th (8th Ball Club). BNT will broadcast particular reportage from the gig in the sea-capital, as well as an interview, presenting the album and the band. 2) The Cupola folk trio are Doug Eunson, Sarah Matthews and Oli Matthews. They play English and European dance music and English songs in three part harmony. Incorporating melodeons, hurdy gurdy, saxophones, clarinet, fiddle and viola, these three highly talented musicians and singers weave intricate harmonies and beautiful melodies.
