2008 BBC Jazz Awards Band of the Year. Curios were formed in 2006 by award-winning pianist and composer Tom Cawley. A piano trio, they play Cawley's original compositions. Their sound is influenced by romantic classical music as much as by jazz, and relies on a deep empathy between the players. As well as Cawley, the other members of the band are Sam Burgess (double bass) and Joshua Blackmore (drums). Together they have been described in the British press as being a state-of-the-art piano trio (Time Out), a must-see piano trio by vortexjazz.co.uk and never less than spellbinding by the Independent.
