You Are the Night
There are several artists with this name: 1) DeLuca is a singer from the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro, the birthplace of many talents. Raised in São Gonçalo, the artist started singing when he was just 3 years old. As a child, he performed for imaginary audiences and made his own CDs, composing songs and creating cover art. It was almost like a premonition of the years to come—DeLuca, in front of the computer, learning to make his own beats and composing melodies and lyrics at the age of 8. His experience with performing came from his Christian upbringing, singing at religious services and weddings. However, it was only in late adolescence that DeLuca truly discovered himself as an R&B artist. Inspired by artists such as Mariah Carey, The Weeknd, Milton Nascimento, and Djavan, the São Gonçalo native used his not always pleasant experiences as a person from the suburbs to create his own catalog, with songs about love, pain, grief, and longing. In 2022, DeLuca's career took a new turn when one of his songs went viral on TikTok and was used in a Pride Month campaign by the company. The artist garnered over 250 million views in more than 400,000 videos featuring Ali.Ás and other songs from his catalog in just a few months. The year 2024 holds different novelties for DeLuca's career. His new single, released by the label Liboo/Virgin Music Brasil, the digital distribution arm of Universal Music, is set to be released at the end of May. 2) Deluka have big dreams and an even bigger sound. The indie synth band, originally from Birmingham, England and currently living in Los Angeles, are gearing up for a Spring 2014 release of their highly anticipated EP, BONDS. Recently completed with acclaimed producer Tim Pagnotta (Neon Trees), BONDS preserves the band’s artful tapestry of pop, electro, and rock, while embracing an unbridled and uplifting newfound spirit. The anthemic lead single “Home” is a prime example of how the band’s buzzing synths entwine with soaring guitars and singer Ellie Innocenti’s captivating voice — the perfect introduction to the next phase of Deluka.
