Robotic Hands of God: Voice of the Last Days
Dreadnots are a Pittsburgh PA avant hip-hop/electronic group who formed about a year before the September 11th attack on America. They've released various recordings as limited tapes, CDR's, VCD's, DVD's, and a floppy disc release. Theyve also released two professional, industry standard, shrink-wrapped CD's (Lightyears and The Money Machine) in pressings of 1000 respectively. The back catalog of recordings is an unpredictable one: some releases are more straight-forward songs built around lo-fi beats, while other releases are abstract performances more akin to avant film scores and free jazz skronk. This ever-changing approach continues today as the group's gut reaction on record as well as a live act to the abundance of generic genre-typcasting that pollutes much of todays underground music, specifically in relation to sample-based music. Although not a frequent touring unit, the band has stayed continually active and performed mostly east coast shows with a wide variety of artists from corsano/flaherty to mr. lif and all points in between. They've also collaborated with experimental hip-hop artists from Japan, such as Authentic and Nejel Mongrel. In 2007 the band branched out into more audio/video activities, including developing it's own tv show Splendid Recipes as well as performing various recording duties for other east coast based artists. They also recorded a new album The Giant Trips which has yet to be released. Read more on Last.fm.
