F.I.R. (飛兒樂團) is a well-known Taiwanese pop rock band formed in 2004 by producer Ian Chen, who brought together vocalist Faye Zhan and guitarist Real Huang. The group quickly rose to fame with their breakout hit “Lydia,” the theme song for the Taiwanese TV drama The Outsiders (鬥魚). Interestingly, when the drama first aired, the singer behind the theme song was not revealed, sparking curiosity and discussion among viewers. The song’s powerful vocals and emotional delivery captivated audiences, paving the way for F.I.R.’s highly successful debut. The name F.I.R. comes from the initials of its three members—Faye, Ian, and Real—but also carries the meaning “Fairyland in Reality,” reflecting the band’s unique blend of dreamy soundscapes and real-life themes. A little-known fact is that Faye once studied English in college alongside Taiwanese pop diva Jolin Tsai (蔡依林), making them former classmates before their music careers took off. In 2018, vocalist Faye departed the band to pursue her solo career. Later that year, F.I.R. introduced a new lead singer, Lydia (韓睿), a graduate of Zhejiang Media College’s musical theatre department. Lydia was first featured in the theme song “星火” (Sparks) for the film adaptation of The Outsiders (鬥魚). She officially joined the band in October 2018, adopting the stage name “Lydia” in reference to F.I.R.’s signature hit.
