"The Way" is a song by American alternative rock band Fastball. It was released on January 7, 1998, as the lead single from their second studio album, All the Pain Money Can Buy (1998). The song was written by the band's lead vocalist, Tony Scalzo, and was produced by the band and Julian Raymond. "The Way" peaked at number one on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in April 1998 and remained there for seven weeks. Fastball is an American power pop / rock n roll band that formed in Austin, Texas in the 1990s. The band originally called themselves Magneto U.S.A but changed their name after signing with Hollywood Records. They released their first album, Make Your Mama Proud, in 1996. Fastball consists of Miles Zuniga (lead guitar and vocals), Tony Scalzo (bass and vocals), and Joey Shuffield (drums). They released one breakout hit single, The Way, in 1998. Other songs receiving significant radio airplay included Out Of My Head, You're An Ocean, and Fire Escape. The Way ended up peaking at number-one on the U.S. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks, bringing the group into a mainstream audience. The group's fifth full length album, Little White Lies, was released in Spring 2009. Their most current album as of spring 2013, it is distributed by MRI/RED Distribution.
