Letters From Home
My name is Gergő Gyula, I was born in Debrecen, Hungary in 1979. I started my music studies in 1995, self-educated on a computer and since then various machines were running under my hands, but still, computer is my prior instrument in music composing. In 2006, I joined the Cökxpôn Ambient Society, located in Hungary. Cökxpôn gets the subcultural artists together and gives them a chance to put their stuff in front of the public, also with giving a place to make live shows and giving a chance to be heard on Tilos Rádió. In December 2006, I got this chance, too, so I made a one-hour-show in the radio using my debut (demo) album, called Marbles. The result was so good that I got a big power infusion to continue my walk on this path. 2007 was the year when EFOTT was held next to Debrecen, at Lake Vekeri. EFOTT is a very popular happening in Hungary, in every year it's in another place of the country. This was the first live perfomance I made in front of the public, a two-hour show, selected from the tracks of Marbles and many new songs which were fully or partly finished. I got very positive feedbacks, so I decided to put together a new album. In 2008, I've registered to Jamendo and signed an artist contract, which gave me the platform of my music administration, the chance to upload my albums and see the statistics about my music playings and usage. The registration to Jamendo brought me a very nice popularity, various podcasts started to play my tracks, such as XtraChill, Anji Bee, Cary Norsworthy, Subzero Soundworks and All Tribes Radio, let me thank them this way, too. In August 2009 I released my album called Letters from home, this was the first composition that had the quality of popular and enjoyable music. Nowadays I'm finishing my sketches, that's approx. 200 songs... :) and release them in album compositions, so many new music is on the way. During my walk on the path of music composing, I met a few very good fellows who also have the same intention and thoughts on creative music making (VJs, DJs, popular hungarian band members, composers and video clip gurus). Some of them I'm still in connection with, sharing our experiences and trying to put together enjoyable stuff. Since 2007 I'm working in Budapest, left my home city Debrecen, but still in deep love with it and with my people living there. I'll never forget where I came from, there's so much intuition and love I got, and I hope I could give them such, too. I have a job here in Budapest as a project engineer in enviromental consulting, this fits the best to my life motivation.
