Graymatter is an American hip-hop producer from Richmond, Virginia; best known as a member of the Richmond-based collective Mutant Academy, as well as the Scheme Team collective. After meeting rappers Koncept Jack$on and Fly Anakin in 2015, which eventually lead to the creation of the song Fishscale, he collaborated with Big Kahuna OG in 2016 to release the album Ocean Grown, which gained some slight recognition from blogs. This was then followed with three more projects between the two: Catastrophic Inventions Volume One, Scooby Snax and Strainman Chronicles. After a fair share of instrumental albums, the producer released his debut EP The Fades in April 2021, featuring guest appearances from his fellow Mutant Academy/Scheme Team cohorts (Fly Anakin, Big Kahuna OG, 3waySlim and Monday Night), as well as Conway the Machine, Chuck Strangers and ANKHLEJOHN.
