Los Angeles based HYVMINE was founded by prog metal guitarist AJ Johnson, who has had numerous features in Guitar World Magazine and released an array on instrumental tunes over the last five years. Completed by guitarist Alon Mei-Tal, bassist Chris Joseph, and drummer Fabrizio Cavallaro, their debut album ‘Earthquake’ showcases Johnson in a new light from his former work as he takes up vocal duties as well as lead guitar. Johnson and Mei-Tal‘s combined guitar work is transcendent with meaty riffs holding down verses, and fast intricate guitar solos often sitting in the bridge or lifting up an outro.
