There are at least 3 artists that go by the name of Halogen. (1) Electronic duo from Atlanta, United States formed in 2013, famous for their song U Got That, part of a viral internet meme. (2) 1998 Australian five-piece alternative rock band. (3) 2007 ambient-glitch producer from Brighton, UK (1) Halogen is an electronic duo from Atlanta, United States. Originally touring and playing big name US festivals electronic and rave festivals alongside acts such as Knife Party, Hardwell, and Feed Me. They shot to international fame after an internet meme involving videos of model Ricadro Milos dancing to their song U Got That became a viral sensation in 2019. Check out their SoundCloud for more. (2) Halogen is a five-piece band from Perth, Western Australia. Formed in 1998 by two expatriate New Zealanders - Jasmine Yee and Frans Bisschop - the band first gained national prominence in Australia through the song Hole Around My Heart from their Somewhere You're Alone recording. With the release of the single Walkaway and an accompanying tour of Australia's east coast (including a showcase performance at the Australian Music Week), the band furthered their claim for national attention. The single received solid airplay on national broadcaster Triple J and a follow up came in the form of On A Bridge. Both singles found their way onto the band's debut album Save the Ones You Love. Rather than take a traditional recording approach for their follow up album Building On The Edge Of The Sky, songwriters Jasmine Yee and Frans Bisschops directed each composition to a different emerging producer. The result was a brilliant, if somewhat eclectic, recording taking Halogen away from the brooding guitars that previously typified their sound and into the realm of electronica.
