10 Years Exploited
There are more than one artist called Homework: 1. Glasgow-based Scottish indie rock band: Homework is an idea that began in the worst of possible places; two dudes, jamming on acoustic guitars in a public park. To be fair, that initial unsolicited act of silence vandalism was necessitated by a global pandemic, and it established a precedent of Homework as a product of circumstance which continues to this day. Indeed Santiago, Michael, Lizzie and Andrew are slackers with full time jobs, whose volatile, loping fuzz pop is as much informed by a lifelong devotion to indie rock deities like Pavement and Teenage Fanclub as it is the shoddy acoustics of budget practice spaces and temperamental gear. A band utterly indebted to Glasgow, an adopted city for all four members, Homework have stumbled their way into the hearts of the local scene, typified by a dream support slot opening for Fanclub frontman Norman Blake on New Year's Eve. They've also garnered some international affection, with their first EP receiving radio plays from indie connoisseurs around the globe. Their first EP Homework was released in March 2023 in both cassette and digital form, with their second one Easy Money slated for a late March 2024. 2. Dutch Electronic Duo : Homework was a Dutch house music duo formed in Amsterdam, with roots in the city’s iconic Concerto record store. Known for their eclectic approach to house music—drawing from classic Chicago influences and modern deep house—they developed a reputation for versatility in both their productions and DJ sets. Throughout their active years, Homework released music on several respected labels including Berlin’s Exploited, 2020 Vision, Jesse Rose’s Made To Play, and Riva Starr’s Snatch!. Their tracks and remixes received support from artists such as Soul Clap, Axel Boman, Oliver $, Jimpster, Derrick Carter, and Laurent Garnier. The duo toured internationally, performing at notable venues like Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Paris’ Social Club, and Amsterdam’s Studio 80. Homework officially disbanded in 2016. Read more on Last.fm.
