There are multiple artists who have performed under the name IQ: 1. IQ is a progressive rock band that originated in the United Kingdom during the 1970s. Initially formed as The Lens, IQ became part of a small group of progressive rock acts that remained active throughout the 1980s, alongside bands such as Marillion. Their early music was often compared to the style of Genesis. Despite being associated with the neo-progressive rock movement, the band has distanced itself from that label. In 1993, IQ released the album Ever, which featured the return of original vocalist Peter Nicholls. Nicholls had previously left the group in 1985 and was replaced by Paul (P.L.) Menel. His return was well received by the band's fanbase. The group has continued to perform and record new material. After the departure of founding keyboardist Martin Orford, who had been with the band for 26 years, the development of a new studio album was delayed. The band eventually released Frequency in 2009, which drew comparisons to their early 1980s sound. 2. IQ is also the stage name of a young artist from South London known for blending bashment, grime, and rap. Drawing influence from artists such as Popcaan, IQ incorporates melodic Auto-Tune vocals with elements of UK street culture. His musical development was shaped by a stay in Jamaica, where he worked with his older brother, dancehall artist QQ. One of his tracks, Tell A Paigon Try, exemplifies his approach, combining lyrical intensity with a melodic structure.
