Intocable (Untouchable) is an American Tejano and Norteño band from Zapata, Texas, that was started by friends Ricardo Javier Muñoz and René Orlando Martínez in the early 1990s. The group's style, which combines romantic, hooky melodies, tight instrumentation and vocal harmony, is consistently imitated by other Tejano and Norteño groups. Their most important albums includes Intocable IV, Contigo, and more recently, their blockbuster release X. Rámon Ayala was a major influence to the group. Ricky Muñoz is the lead singer-accordionist, La Coqueta (The Flirt) was one of their earliest hits (mid 90s) and was later made into a music video. Intocable endured a van crash (late 90s) in route from one concert to another in northern Mexico, and a couple of band members died. The song , Mi Amigo Que Se Fue, ( My Friend That's Gone ) was written in honor of the deceased musicians. The band's awards include Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album (2005), Latin Grammy Award for Best Norteño Album (2013, 2005), Grammy Award for Best Norteño Album (2011), Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award (2012).
