Whole Again
Jont is a singer-songwriter newly arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia from the United Kingdom with a loyal following in the UK and the United States. His music has been featured on various US shows including Grey's Anatomy and the hit film Wedding Crashers and he has also built a significant global community through the success of his traveling house concert series Unlit, the webisodes of which in 2008 became a viral internet phenomenon (The Times). A born wanderer, after recording and releasing several albums in the UK and the US, Jont set off at the end of 2010 on a spiritual odyssey to be a troubadour for real - to travel with no plan, and to just let his songs organically lead him round the world. His journey took him first to Australia (where he did his debut gig on Thursday Island in The Torres Strait, moving on to sell out Sydney's 505 club a few months later), to New Zealand, back through America and then to tour (playing small gigs organised by fans who became friends) through Italy, France, the UK and Germany in the summer and autumn of 2011. Along the way he was introduced to a Taoist meditation technique which started to change the way he approached his life and his music. In December 2011 he headed to California where he did a ten day Vipassana meditation course and at the beginning of January he realised there was one thing that wasn't totally transparent in his life. So, he wrote an email to an old friend and discovered that he had an 8 year old daughter living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. So, this spring he has set off to live in Halifax and start a new life and continue his music there. Along his troubadour trail he has often been putting on his unique travelling house-concert UNLIT, which he puts on in the homes of people he meets along the way, and which features him and other local artists performing in the intimacy of someone's home. He keeps in touch with his growing global fanbase via his blog - The Troubadour - which records candidly the ups and downs of this peripatetic musician's life. The 2008 to 2010 saw three new albums from Jont (Supernatural / Set It Free / Whole Again - all availalble on his online shop at www.jontnet.com or from itunes) which true to his entrepreneurial spirit he has put out on his own label, gaining 4-star reviews in magazines such as UNCUT and Q, and winning high-profile fans such as Dermot O'Leary, legendary DJ Johnnie Walker who claims Jont is making the world a better place and Radio One's Zane Lowe. However, what is most exciting Jont at the moment is the new album he is working on at the moment. Working title is LUCKY LEAF FALLS. And it looks set to be a stripped back affair, based around live takes of songs, sung and played at the same time, played on a classical guitar at his friend Adam Fuest's Welsh hillside studio this spring 2012. Oh, that and of course, getting to Halifax to be near his daughter and making a proper base for himself for the first time in ten years.... The Troubadour adventure enters its second more grounded phase and no-one could be more excited than Jont himself..... Read more on Last.fm.
