Slutpläderingen



Kartellen (English: The Cartel) were a Swedish gangsta-rap hip hop group founded in 2008 by Leo Kinesen Carmona with Janne Babyface Raninen, both serving life sentences in Finland for accessory to murder. The two wrote the lyrics in prison and enlisted the help of their friends on the outside to get their music out. They soon found the young rappers Sebbe Staxx, Kakka and Maskinisten who were given the task of representing the group. In early 2009, the group released their mixtape Kartellen är här for download through the Swedish hip-hop magazine Kingsize Magazine's website. Other members joining later included Lil' Star and Lani Mo Cribbe. Established musicians and producers also contributed to the effort. Kartellen has been a famous and provocative hip hop act portraying crime and social problems in the suburbs in their albums and mixtapes. It has coverage in mainstream media with some of their releases appearing in the Sverigetopplistan, the official Swedish Singles Chart. On 23 May 2016, Kartellen announced that it was resigning after Staxx announced his resignation. The group's last album Slutpläderingen was released on June 10, 2016.
