Khanъ (khan) is a folk/metalcore (folkcore, for short) band from Sofia, Bulgaria. The group was founded in 2009 and started playing a mixture of metal and hardcore with elements from Bulgarian traditional folk music. All of the songs are written by the band members with occasional covers of traditional Bulgarian songs in the folkcore style. Aside from drums, bass and guitars, Khanъ incorporates bagpipe and tambura (a traditional Bulgarian string instrument, similar to the American banjo) playing in their work. After numerous live shows in Sofia and across the country, as well as some lineup changes through the years, the band saw the release of 1 music video (to the song Небе / Sky) in 2011, one 3-song EP (Правда / Justice) in 2015 and a full length album (Знамение / Omen) in early 2016.
