Kiiiiiii (seven i's) are a two-girl music/art performance group consisting of Lakin' (Reiko Tada) and u.t. (Utako Tayama) who perform using only vocals, drums, various toys and playground games. They first met in junior high in 1989 then went on to study Installation Arts and become an illustrator (Lakin'), and Drama at the Bungakuza in Tokyo (u.t.). u.t. is currently married to ex-pat musician and Japanese cultural 'spokesman' for the Clast weblog Marxy. To date Kiiiiiii have played a number of live dates in a variety of venues around Tokyo, and recently appeared at the live music festival SXSW in Austin, Texas. After appearing on a number of compilations their first original record release came in 2005 with an EP in collaboration with DJ codomo entitled Kiiiiiii vol.1. In April 2006 Kiiiiiii released the DVD Gold and Silver containing original songs, live performances, PVs, stuffed animals, hand puppets and more playground games.
