Kimie (pronounced Kimi-ay) is a singer/songwriter from Hawaii who has developed an eclectic musical style all her own. Her parents, of Hawaiian and Portugese decent, noticed her unmistakable talent at a very young age. “I fell in love with music as a child and it naturally just became apart of my life. It is my mother, my best friend, and my first love. No matter where I am in my life, I know I can always turn to music.” A self taught guitarist and song writer, Kimie grew as a musical artist while boarding at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, HI. “India.Arie inspired me to pick up a guitar when I was 14 years old and write from my heart. Other artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu showed me how to be an individualist and remain true to myself. Kimie’s signature style weaves acoustic soul, reggae, hawaiian with a touch of R&B and funk, into cool sultry melodies.
