Seguiremos en Pie
Kokoshca was founded by Amaia Tirapu and Iñaki López, in 2008 in Pamplona. Its name comes from the phonetic distortion of the Austrian painter Oskar Kokoschka. At first they were a duo and thus created their first album Únete a Kokoshca (ByP, 2008) released by the Madrid label Birra y Perdiz, cradle of other emerging bands of the moment such as Espanto, Antonna (leader of Los Punsetes) or La Otra Gloria. In this first album, the musician Antonio Luque from Sr Chinarro collaborates on the song Azul metal. Javier Aznárez left the group in 2013, bringing in Álex López and Iñigo Andión, thus turning Kokoshca into a quartet. This year they recorded their third album Hay una Luz (Ayo SIlver, 2013) which is well received in the specialized press12 and stands out on the list of the best albums of the year 20133 in media such as Jenesaispop or Rockdelux among others. Their preview single is Directo a tu corazón, which is accompanied by a video clip made by filmmaker Víctor Iriarte. This song is the number 2 national song of the year selected by readers for Rockdelux magazine. On this album, the collaboration of the Barricada singer El Drogas4 stands out in the last cut of the album titled Las flores del fin del mundo. In 2016 they signed with the Madrid label Sonido Muchacho, home of musicians such as Carolina Durante and Hinds. Kokoshca release the 7” vinyl single titled Corazón Caliente / Corazón de Hielo (Sonido Muchacho, 2016). With this work they began an international tour participating in the Latin Alternative Music Festival in New York, along with other Spanish bands,5 such as Joe Crepúsculo or Izal. In 2018 they published El Mal, their fifth album recorded at Garate Studios by Kaki Arkarazo, a musician from groups such as Kortatu or Negu Gorriak and who has been a producer for numerous musical artists such as Amparo Sánchez (Amparanoia), Soziedad Alcohólika or Manta Ray among others. El Mal is selected by Hipersónica magazine as the best album of 2018 and is highlighted in the list of the best of the year by specialized media. In 2019 they presented their single Amor Adolescente / Cumpleaños Feliz (Sonido Muchacho, 2019) on digital platforms.15 That same year, Amaia Tirapu collaborates with Los Planetas,16 singing the song Espíritu Olimpico in the concert that the group from Granada performed in Sacromonte. In May 2021 they released their sixth album simply titled KOKOSHCA which is a finalist, once again, for the Premio Ruido. One of his singles ASIA (Song for Iñaki Ochoa de Olza) dedicated to the memory of the Navarrese mountaineer who died in Annapurna, is selected by Cadena Ser as the third best song of the year.17 Another of his advances, Regresando to the city is the third best song of the year for Rockdelux. At the beginning of 2023 they published the EP Nuestro Futuro (Sonido Muchacho, 2023). In this new work, Kokoshca incorporates electronic elements into his tested formula. The collaborations with rappers such as Erik Urano from Valladolid or Kiliki Frexko from Pamplona from Chill Mafia stand out. In January of that same year they went to Groningen (Netherlands) to perform at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival. https://root.theworkpc.com/music/preview?img=http://nosotroslosrusos.bandcamp.com Read more on Last.fm.
