Liberato (stylised as LIBERATO) is an Italian singer who is difficult to categorize. Although the language of his lyrics is primarily Neapolitan, he often combines words or entire phrases in Italian, English, French, and Spanish. Liberato chose from the beginning of his career to maintain complete anonymity, keeping the utmost secrecy about his private life. In one of his very few interviews, granted via email to the music magazine Rolling Stone, he only stated that he was born in Naples and goes by the name Liberato, although none of this information has ever been confirmed by authoritative third-party sources or official documentation. The mystery surrounding his true identity is a distinctive trait of Liberato's persona, to the extent that he only appears in public while hooded, accompanied by look-alikes, or hidden behind a screen.
