BLOOD MOON UNDERWORLD

Zain Siddiqui (born February 14th, 1999), known professionally as MISOGI, is a British producer, musician, and songwriter based in London. He is the co-founder of the record label Pink Noise. He started making EDM in 2012, until his side project drxp in 2014, which later became the main project called MISOGI. His artist name derives from his love for the Street Fighter video game series. In the franchise, the “misogi” is a special attack achieved by character Shin Akuma. He also describes his moniker as a searchable name that represents not being bound to the confines of a particular genre or period in time. Although well known for the sound he has cultivated, his music is not bound to specific or singular genres. His first project, OCCULT, was a dark, gritty and sample based record, PINK2 evolving into EDM and trap, PLAYMISOGI® discovered a more industrial sound, while his next EP, Death Metal, is all about the 80’s alternative rock and shoegaze era, post punk, new wave and emo, followed up by his full-length album, Blood Moon Underworld, which followed similar guides to his previous release. Following this period, MISOGI turned to decidedly more lighter sounds, implementing more synths and dream pop into his music. His EP little*stars, which features artwork from infamous Japanese painter Aya Takano, shows an increased attention to vocals with addictive hooks, verses, and artist features. His most recent release, ESCAPE ARTIST, has similarly pop roots but more forcefully leans into the ethos of early internet culture and a nostalgia for the digital iconography of the latest and greatest tech for a young kid/teen during the early 00's. The sounds/songs, images and iconography used in promo, merch, and Spotify banner media for the album all seem to proudly declare MISOGI's vibrant inner imagination steeped in and preoccupied with his favorite stories and worlds discovered online. MISOGI has worked with many notable artists, including, but not limited to, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Lil Yachty, j-hope, AJ Tracey, Che, Bones, and Night Lovell. Read more on Last.fm.
