Martyrdöd unleash intense raw Swedish crust punk with copious black metal influences and unrelenting d-beat. Ultra powerful metallic käng that drags you into a world of darkness, anger and despair...This band has a distinct style within the strong tradition of Swedish hardcore. The riffs are raw and powerful, with haunting melody over a storm of raw sonic shrapnel. Two guitars trade off sledgehammer riffs and driving melodic leads. Their name translates to martyr's death or martyrdom and death or dead martyr. They were one of the earliest blackened crust groups to spring up from the hardcore scene. There are no blast beats incorporated into their music and all the black metal influences come from the vocals and riffing alone. All songs are based around d-beat galloping. The vocals approach can be described as a blackened bark in a hardcore delivery, somehow still managing to sound sorrowful. The riffing style is very melodic, melancholic and epic. It is built upon a penchant for tremolo picking melodies that are both catchy and memorable as well as raw and heavy in nature. Basically a black metal Tragedy. Martyrdöd's riffing style is based upon His Hero Is Gone's iconic swarm of bees approach to riffing. Their music also features intense and extensive bouts of heavy metal shredding plus displays of advanced guitar proficiency and technicality. Pontus is perhaps one of the most interesting guitarists in the hardcore scene. His style and riffs are incomparable. He is gifted with such creativity to write epic leads upon epic leads. His talent makes Martyrdöd shine and stand out from other crust bands. The band's sense of melody can probably only be rivaled by Tragedy themselves. Pontus parted ways with the band in 2018. He continues to play in Agrimonia. Guitarist/vocalist Mikael used to play in Skitsystem, he left after some years of performing with them. Members: •Mikael Kjellman - guitars & vocals (2001-present) •Jens Bäckelin - d-beat & vocals (2001-present) •Tim Rosenqvist - bass (2017-2018), guitar (2018-present) •Daniel Danne Ekeroth - bass (2018-present) Former members: •Dawa - vocals (2001-?) •Axel - bass (2001-?) •Pontus Redig - guitar (2005-2018) •Per Nilsson - bass (2005-2010) •Anton Grönholm - bass (2011-2014) •Fredrik Reinedahl - bass (2014-2017) Facebook | Bandcamp Read more on Last.fm.
